Living A "Glass Half Full" Life
3/25/2013We woke up this morning to 8 inches of newly fallen snow. So 1 week before Spring Break, the kids got to have 1 last snow day. Yes, school was closed and River, Logan and Isabella were more than happy to get to sleep in and stay at home! Quite a treat for them-one last adventure to Mulberry Park to go sledding and snowboarding.
I was so lucky to be able to spend the weekend with my wonderful mom and daughter at Time Out For Women and Isabella went to Time Out For Girls. We had the best time seeing friends from around the Midwest who had traveled to the Indianapolis TOFW and also listening to the wonderful musical stylings of Jerico Road, Jenny Oaks Baker, and Sandra Turley. What a wonderful forum-this is our second time to attend and all of the speakers gave wonderfully inspirational messages of thinking, believing and living HIGHER. We were all challenged to think about what we were going to change in our lives in an effort to live a HIGHER life.
My challenge to myself is to do something everyday to serve someone else and to be a more positive person by trying to meet more of life's challenges with a "glass half full" approach. Case in point -snow, again, 1 week before Easter. We have the opportunity to take advantage of spending time together building forts, having snowball fights and experiencing our most favorite winter sports.
Tonight is meatless Monday and I have decided that Tomato Soup (click the link for my best recipe) and Grilled Cheese is on the menu. After our fun in the snow, it will be nice to build a fire and warm up with a steaming bowl of soup and a creamy, crispy, cheesy sandwich. And then look forward to the weekend and 50+ degrees! At least the weather in Indiana always keeps us on our toes.
